「伝統は守るものではなく創るものである」「先人の残したものを求めず先人の求めたものを求めよ」人生の先輩から教えていただいた言葉です。 当社は社寺仏閣彫刻を仕事としております。昭和34年の日光東照宮・昭和の大修理を皮切りに香川県から上京した父が会社を興し、さまざまな方に支えていただきながら今に至っています。防火地域といった法規制や技術の進歩などの時代の変遷に伴い、社寺の世界でもコンクリート建築が増えてきました。当然弊社も様々な改革が求められます。コンクリートやＦＲＰでの彫刻製品の需要も増えてきていますが、伝統建築の趣を変えることなく文化を踏襲しながら、施主様の求める製品をいかに制作していくか努力いたしております。 神社やお寺を訪れると、皆様が手を合わせると思います。その際、心は開かれ素直な気持ちになります。開き直るとは、心を開き気持ちを正す事であり“オレの何が悪いんだ”という居直る事とは違うものと教わった事があります。ひとつひとつの案件に愛を込めて行動し、まさしく開き直る空間や時間を提供する一助となる事が私共の使命だと考えております。 とはいえ、私共の心を込めて仕上げた製品だけで環境が整う訳ではありません。食卓に並ぶ１匹のサンマには、30万人の想いがかかっていると言われます。漁師の道具や船のエンジン、レーダー、輸送のトラックドライバーやトラックの製造に関わる部品の数々、それに携わった方々の家族…そんな想いを尊重し、「技」ではなく「業（なりわい）」として行動していくために、当社の理念を「匠の業を感動に変える」としております。感動を与えるためには、時には匠の技術を持った者同志の連携も必要になります。研修旅行で業者の皆さんと京都に行った事がありました。ほとんどが目線を上にして感嘆の声を上げている中、お寺の足元を眺めて感動している石屋さんがいましたが、先人の求めたものを求めるという同じベクトルを持つ方々と協力して、さらに昇華した答えを導きだせることもあります。 時代が変わっても、変わってはいけないのは心です。特に先人の築いた歴史を尊び、思いやりの精神の育まれた日本文化を発信し続けたいと考えています。 |
OUR VISION As taught to me by an elder, "Tradition is not for protecting, it is for creating and Seek not what our predecessors left behind but seek what our predecessors sought. Our company makes sculptures for Bhuddist Shrines and Temples. After the Niko Toshogu and Showa's grand restoration in 1959 Yutaka moved from Kagawa prefecture to the capital and established the company. Following the Prevention of Fire Legislation, advancement in skills and techniques led to in increase in construction in concrete, not only for temples and shrines, but for buildings all over the world. Naturally, this called for a need in various innovation within our company. The demand for concrete, FRP and sculptures has increased and we have been striving to keep true to the meaning and culture embedded in traditional construction. As well as delivering the creations sought after by our clients. When visiting shrines and temples, people put their hands together and pray. I believe that in doing so, they open their hearts and become honest to themselves. We were once taught that disregarding oneself did not mean opening your heart, confronting your feelings and asking yourself 'What am I doing wrong?'. It was to disregard matters at hand one by one and act on them with kind thoughts. By doing so, we create breathing space and it allows us to see the matter in a new light. This, we believe, is our duty. Having said that, we are not saying that our heart-felt sculptures alone are enough to create a cultural atmosphire. It is said that a single mackerel pike on a dinner plate carries the thoughts and wishes of 300,000 people. Thoughts including, the fisherman, his tools, his boat and it's engine, it's radar, the delivery truck driver, the part's involved in the making of the car, the people and their families involved in the making of the parts. The list goes on. We should respect and value these individual thoughts, not 'skill' but rather the 'livelihood' that goes into the actions of these people. Our company's founding principle is 'turning the art of living into action'. To leave an impression, at times a collaboration of two skillful individuals becomes necessary. We once went on a study trip to Kyoto with the company staff. While visiting a temple, there stood a mason admiring the temple from it's floor. We then realized that working with individuals who share the same ideals, namely seeking what our predecessors sought, would further propel us to a whole new level. In changing times, it is the heart that must remain unchanged. In particular, we must respect our predecessors history, with the same compassion and consideration in both mind and spirit that has established the Japanese culture. We hope to continue its legacy. |
